LOVE is the title chosen for this work created by Francesco Clemente in 2019 and positioned to guard the Monsordo-Bernardina Estate in the first months of 2024. Two cast bronze statues of approximately 4.50 meters depicting two mirrored female figures with cloud-shaped heads. Clemente, celebrated throughout his career for having explored themes relating to spirituality, sexuality and the human condition, here turns his attention to self-regard and admiration. Each of the figures apparently contemplates the reflection of themselves in the other as if they were wondering about a very sensitive issue in our era: do our self-image and our self-esteem depend completely on our need for affirmation from others? As he himself writes:
